Hebron Company Receives Award

Sunday, October 26, 2003

GRAND FORKS GriZella Corporation of Hebron is among the recipients of the 2003 Governor's Choice for Economic Development awards.

Lt. Gov. Jack Dalrymple presented the awards at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks during the fall meeting of the Economic Development Association of North Dakota.

"These awards are an opportunity to recognize that we are making progress with our economic development efforts," Dalrymple said in a press release. "Our combined efforts with local and state economic development stakeholders are moving North Dakota forward and creating opportunity and quality jobs in every corner of the state."

GriZella received the Project of the Year award.

GriZella is a software development company that assists the trucking and shipping industry. It relocated from Denver to Hebron and will provide up to 20 jobs over the next five years.

Mark Draeb, president of GriZella, said the move was a team effort.

Having been away for many years, Draeb said he missed how North Dakotans help each other on personal and business levels.

The effort to move to Hebron included economic development assistance from 10 entities including: the North Dakota Development Corporation, Lewis and Clark Regional Council, Hebron Community Economic Development Corporation, Hebron Business and Industry, Bismarck Vision Fund, Mandan Growth Fund, Morton County Development Fund, Stark Development Fund, Montana Dakota Utilities Company, and MorGranSou Electric Cooperative.

Russ Staiger and Ken Will of the Bismarck-Mandan Development Association were instrumental to the success of the project, according to Draeb.

In writing the nomination, the Bismarck Mandan Development Association stated, "The GriZella project includes all the elements of economic development the North Dakota Department of Commerce and local development organizations strive for."
